An Ex-Runner's Lament

I'm sad that...

Just a few months ago I ran a Half Marathon and now 2 miles leaves me worked. -- It’s hard to motivate yourself to run when it’s 102 degrees. -- I need to run for a full hour to work off the whole pack of cookie dough I ate in the last 2 days. Seriously. That was 2,160 empty calories I snacked away. -- When you stop running 15-20 miles a week and eat a half-pack of cookie dough per day, your metabolism starts to catch up with you. -- I haven’t added new music to my Shuffle in forever. Which brings me to the question…

Have any new music suggestions to motivate me to get my behind moving?
Here are my former faves that make me want to move fast…

Your Cover’s Blown – Belle & Sebastian
The Sound of Settling – Death Cab for Cutie
Take Me Out – Franz Ferdinand
Let Go – Frou Frou
Clark Gable – The Postal Service
Talk to Me, Dance with Me – Hot Hot Heat
Ready, Steady, Go – Paul Oakenfold
Eye of the Tiger – Survivor
Yeah! – Usher

Unfortunately, there isn't a single song that could motivate me to run. My snacking vice of late has been the GALLON sized ziploc bag full of M&M's, stamped with "Ben and Vanessa", left over from Vanessa's wedding! Maybe we need to start an exercise group, as well as a sewing group!

Fergie's songs get me motivated to move...as a side note, I have the same exact running shoes you have in your picture. I love them!!!!

Harder Better Faster Stronger by Daft Punk. A strangely entertaining song with only 22 words. The kids love it.

A side note as to the connectivity of the blogging world...I don't know who Ben and Vanessa are but I have a friend who went to their wedding. I remember because she was eating the M&Ms before Sunday school class the next morning. Weird, huh?

It's funny I can't run to music, it messes up my pace. Very strange, but true. So usually I run on the treadmill while watching tv! I finally got back to running last week, can't handle the jiggles anymore...

Hi Carrie! I saw your post about the Made in the Streets yard sale on the Living the Simple Life blog. I would love to help! I'm sure we have plenty of things around the house to donate to the sale. In fact, we need to get rid of the excess. We also (shamefully) have MANY plastic bags that shoppers can use. On that note, we are interested in purchasing from reusable bags for shopping purposes. I looked at the site you put on the blog, but there are so many different kinds. Which type of bag would you recommend?

Thanks for the selections, y'all. Feel free to keep them coming. I can't wait to listen to them all, and my custom-created Running Playlist from Newton.

Kristen, I will post a little bit about the bags here in a few days. I'll have to look at the ones on that site & let you know!
