The CSA is getting much easier these days. But I'm bracing for the influx of okra which will soon be upon us. Here's this week's produce:
cauliflower, yellow zucchini, garlic, potatoes, green beans, cucumber, cabbage, squash, beets, onion & green pepper.
This week's meal plan includes: The
Most Awesome Zucchini Bread, my Grandmother's Baked Squash recipe,
Corned Beef & Cabbage,
Mashed Fauxtatoes, and
Roasted Beets.
(The Cauliflower, Zucchini, Beet & Squash recipes are all in the Climb Nashville cookbook, if you've got it!) I'll probably freeze some of the green pepper.

And Look at all these flowers from our garden! What beauty!

Finally, here's the aerial shot of our veggie garden, with a few flowers thrown in. We've got some tomatoes, corn, blueberries, peas, lettuces, cauliflower, broccoli, peppers, herbs, pumpkin, asparagus & squash. Can't wait to make homemade salsa from our tomatoes, peppers & cilantro!

how is yellow zucchini different from yellow squash?
Are you getting any blueberries in your garden?
I'm not sure how it's different, since they are all in the same family. But I guess it's more moist? And the flavor is more like a zucchini than a yellow squash. I've never used it in zucchini bread, so I'm hoping it tastes just the same!
And we have gotten a few blueberries, but not a ton. I've heard not to expect blueberries for at least 2 years, but we had some this year. The plants we bought were pretty big, from the farmers market. I have 3 bushes - all different types.
Have you had good luck with your cilantro? I've tried a couple times and it always dies around this time of year (even when I water daily).
Also, if you split any of your perennials in the fall and want to get rid of them, let me know. Peter is in the process of digging me a new flower bed and I'll be planting in the fall. I'll have lots of daylilies so can probably share next year! :)
Well, I had some planted & it died. So I replanted it, so hopefully it will last through the tomato season! I'm watering daily too, so I'll let you know how it goes.
I don't think I'll be dividing anything else besides daylilies this year, but if so, I'll let you know!
Thanks for sharing the recipes. I can't wait to try them!
