Autism & Action

Since so many people were interested in last week’s post about autism, I thought I’d share this info from Generation Rescue, about Biomedical Treatments. While this is in reference to treatments, I suspect that they would also theorize that these practices may prevent the onset of autism as well. Below are their four most important things to help heal. For the full article, click here.

Bring the toxin load down.
--Remove casein (dairy) and gluten (wheat) from the diet.
--Remove other food allergens from the diet.
--Get rid of bad food and sugar.
--Remove conventional household cleaners.
--Add a HEPA air filter to your child's room.
--Cook to keep toxins down.
--If your child needs dental work, never use "silver" fillings, as they contain mercury.
--If your child needs a vaccination, ensure they are Thimerosal-free.
--Don't renovate while you live at home.
-Use fluoride-free toothpaste.

Help the gut heal.
--Removal of Food Allergens, like dairy, wheat, soy, eggs & corn.
--Cod Liver Oil.
--Probiotics.
--Digestive Enzymes.
--Colostrum.

Get the nutrients up.
Get the toxins out.
--Chelation.
--Natural detoxifiers.

And to make things even more confusing, the CDC says today that there is no link between vaccines & autism.

i am quite apprehensive about flu shots...not so much in the area of autism but other reasons. does anybody have any thoughts on giving their child a flu shot since it is that time of the year or know of any links between flu shot and autism?

I had a baby in June of 2006 and gave her the flu "shot" (it was actually 2 seperate things that are made for her age) last season. She was great. No flu. No big sicknesses. And she goes to day care! My husband and I have gotten a flu shot for the last 3 or 4 years and have never gotten the flu or had any trouble with the shot.

i have the same question, since our next appt. is coming up soon, and I'm sure that's when e would be getting his shot. i called KARINA & she had some thoughts. maybe she can share them if she reads this...

HANNAH/RENEE - if you read this, amanda c. had a question about how to get your child & baby to eat cod liver oil?

The only thing I have read thus far about the flu shot is that you should definitely request the preservative-free vaccine. The flu shot, I have heard, is the only vaccination that frequently continues to contain thimerosol as a preservative. By the way, does anyone definitively know how to spell thimerosol? I have googled it and I find it equally prevalent spelled "os" and "is".

Hi. I don't know you but clicked on a link to your blog on someone else's, etc., you know how it goes. This post caught my eye because I have a 2 1/2 year old son with autism. He is on a GF/CF diet and we are starting various supplements (including that yummy cod liver oil). I live in N'ville and have just found a doctor that will do shots on a modified schedule. You can see my blog in the profile. If you're interested, let me know and I can get you the info. Glad this topic is getting so much discussion. I have serious concerns about shots triggering autism.
