Here's my cereal recipe. Adjust seeds, nut, fruit ratios as desired. You can also use other stuff, like nuts, pumpkin seeds, raisins, etc.
GRANOLA CEREAL
4 c. oats (quick or old fashioned)
1/2 c. sunflower seeds
3 tbsp sesame seeds
1/2 cup coconut
1/3 c. raw brown sugar
½ tsp. salt
½ tsp. cinnamon
¼ c. vegetable oil
¼ c. honey
1 tsp. vanilla
½ c. dried cranberries
½ c. dried chopped dates
Warm oil and honey in a small saucepan. Add vanilla. Mix all dry ingredients and spread out on large flat baking pan with sides. Pour sauce over the dry mixture and stir well. Spread it back out on the pan. Bake at 300° for 40 min (or less, depending on oven). Stir every 10 min. Let cool. Add dried fruit. Store in plastic container or zip loc. Stays good for about 2 weeks.

Yum. I will try this soon!
OK, I'm the dummy. What are "steele cut oats"?
Wikipedia says...
Steel-cut oats are whole grain groats (the inner portion of the oat kernel) which have been cut into only two or three pieces. They are golden in colour and resemble small rice pieces. Steel-cut oats are also known as coarse-cut oats, pinhead oats, Scotch oats, or Irish oats.
Where did you get the steel-cut oats? (Or where did Lance get them?) Peter wants me to make him granola to eat for breakfast and steel-cut are supposed to be the best for this (so I've heard?)
We got the steel cut oats in the loose dry goods section of whole foods. I'm not sure what it's called, but there are lots of grains, nuts, trail mixes that you buy and just bag up. Many of the Krogers have a health food section which also sells dry goods like that. We love it, and it makes great oatmeal!!
